“The Nurture/Nature Of Art”

In our last post we talked about how art that is around us every day gives back to us . Not only is it a pleasant experience but it changes how we see and experience things. Haydn Shaughnessy and I have been doing a website called “One World Wallet” with this very premise in mind. Just how does carrying around a piece of art shape the way we experience things in our everyday lives? The site www.oneworldwallet.ning.com is set up with the premise of carrying a hand-made duct-tape art wallet with the recipient who blogs about how this effects their money exchanges and other experiences. We take this hi-tech information and make low-tech books from it learning how these exchanges do indeed shape the fabric of our lives. What are you thoughts about having art around you or on you in this case?

  1. Jon,

Thanks so much for sharing your perspective. I enjoy having art around me because I enjoy … actually, I revel in being able to observe other people’s interpretation of this crazy world we share … I enjoy other people’s interpretation of these significant events that effect our lives …

The creations of my fellow men and women are often a great source of inspiration for me as well :D

  2. I have one of these wallets. What Jon does with these wallets is very inspirational/transformational. It’s not your father’s wallet unless your father was Timothy Leary. Or maybe Timothy Leary meets the Village People. Anyway, the complimentary web site is also pretty neat. Very artist friendly.
