Glorious Imperfections

We are all very different. Some of our differences we embrace and some make us feel inferior. Sometimes we are ridiculed and sometimes we are lauded. Everything about us that makes us different give us a unique perspective to share with others. As artists, we share these similarities and differences with the world. We begin to understand how our differences play a very important role is allowing us to be the unique person we have become and by understanding our differences we are better equipped to make our world a better place. Lets strive to be different even when it makes us feel odd or on unstable ground for in this place we understand what is real and what is beautiful. The beauty that is most sublime sometimes comes from what we once considered damage. Our glorious imperfections then become gifts to ourselves and to our community.

  1. Hell Yeah!

  2. Wonderfully said! And we are all very different, yet oddly similar in many ways as well! We all seem to have the shared gifts of emotion and passion.

  3. Beautiful truth.

  4. The thing that is so awesome to me is that I know we are always more than the sum of our parts and this is indeed divine

  5. I enjoyed reading this post very much. I work and live through an emotional state of mind feeling out of place in times and then taking time to enjoy the beauty of the emotion that we all experience and not always want to share publicly. I have embraced this about me and love putting that emotion out there for others to say, “I know that emotion.”

  6. I always loved the term “happy accidents” in regards to my paintings. Maybe artists are God’s happy accidents!
Express your difference and accept the differences of those around you. That is what I try to live by.

  7. I don’t regard the different, singular and unique character we each possess as imperfections. On the other hand I have been so often rewarded by the unexpected, unintended ‘imperfections’ in projects and artworks I’ve undertaken that I look forward to them. I consider them serendipitous discoveries, at worst opportunities to learn and grow, at best- revelations.

  8. We are all individuals and a singularity. What we are inside is universal.
If we feel compelled to make and share our work then we are offering a unique experience to our viewers. We will be the only person who can accomplish this very specific message. Think about this the next time you are making your artwork. It is a blessing and a huge responsibility.

  9. Indeed. The way I look at it that all of our subtleties and imperfections drive not only each of us personally, but can also drive those around us in various ways. Each individual is like a packet of information and potential that makes subtle waves on the sea of personality around them. Each of us are capable of progressing through our individual experiences and changing those ideals through the influence of the experiences and information gathered from those around us. Then, depending on how we weigh those choices the decision can either be supplemental or detrimental to the greater cause of the perceiver. Truly, humankind as a whole is a constant work in progress, and we all must do our best as individuals to influence the progress of the whole in any way we can. No matter how small.

  10. Very well said Grool. I appreciate the input.

  11. Grool- you are a genuinely good person.

  12. :) Well thanks! Ya’ll ain’t half bad yourselves!
