A creative blog by Heidi Huber on The Whole 9

Heidi Huber started her career with the sink or swim theory. Luckily she knows the freestyle which has taken her from the Chicago stage to behind the scenes in Los Angeles where she currently continues to tap as The Whole 9’s Chief of Everything Else.

If you could have a song written for you, what would it be called?

This is a three-question QOD today.  Songs aren’t usually pulled out of thin air.  They have remnants of real people threaded through them, lyrics pulled from real life situations, personal stories set to music.  If someone’s feelings for you elicit writing a song about or for you, man…you rate!

If you could have a song written about you, what musician would you choose to compose it, who would you want to perform it, and what would it be called?

  1. Bernie Taupin would have to write it~

    Elton John would perform it~

and it would be called The Ballad of Teddy Rose~

  2. keith richards (from 1969) would have to write it, lux interior from the cramps (then he would be resurrected from the dead – hooray!! we miss him!!!) would have to sing it, and it would be called ‘pee-pee and kaka.’

  3. LMAO~

@ poorgood…that was my second choice ;) but Zappa would have written it~

  4. Music by Brian Eno, performed by Blue Man Group, song title: Anomalous Entity.

  5. Kimberly and Alberto Rivera would write the song for me, and I would be called “Joy!” :-)

  6. Kimberly and Alberto Rivera & Keith and Sana Luker together will write a song for me , and it will be called “Joy!”

  7. Bob Schneider would compose and perform, and it would be called, “Middle Finger and Other Banned Objects.”

  8. I believe it is almost surprising that the song “Celeste” by Project Pitchfork was not written about me. ;)

  9. Foot In Mouth Syndrome by Radiohead, Big Nose Blues by Clapton, and Dark Side Of Me Waking Up In The Morning by Pink Floyd might also suffice. :)

  10. Rastaman Vibration by
    Bob Marley

  11. Jeez…I could get really sappy here, so be forewarned… As Heidi said, there is nothing better than having a piece of art created especially for you, so if I could have a song written especially for me? I would have it written by a man that I loved, written not only for me, but for my daughter as well, and played for the first time on some special occasion, like my birthday or hers.

And I know when dangerousideas reads this he’s going to think “Damn…there she goes not following directions again! ;)

  12. @Lisa- No, no, not at all. Really I was just making excuses for being so cash n carry materialistic in my own answer. :)

Don’t have a clever answer for todays QOD yet… hmmmm… I don’t know, maybe “Everything I Know I’ve Learned From My Cat: Eat, Drink and be Hairy” composed by Paul Westerberg (of the Matts), played by ZZ Top after a long night’s drink. Or “Glibido” written by James Mercer (of the Shins) and performed by Feist. Or “Cube Shaped Tennis Ball” written by Bob Dylan and sung by the Derek Trucks Band.

  13. I like Lisa’s sappy idea…but would have no idea who, what, how, etc…I guess it would just have to happen in it’s own way :)

Otherwise…it would be fun to have Bjork write something…I LOVE her innovation….although she already has a song called “Charlene” ;)
