Are you laboring on Labor Day?

Traditionally, Labor Day is a celebration marking the end of summer.  Parties, BBQ’s, and Back-to-School sales surround this Monday-holiday.

The celebration of Labor Day was outlined in the first proposal for the holiday as “a street parade to exhibit to the public the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations, followed by a festival for the workers and their families.”

    I’m laboring in the garden…and on Halloween preparations… both non paying monetarily speaking but huge rewards otherwise.

    Yes, I am working away at my little newspaper on Labor Day. Everyone please read your local paper tomorrow so I won’t feel like I’ve wasted my time.

    Why yes I was. Easy day though. Only 7hrs at work. I’m one of the unfortunate ones that Awaken mentioned. I find it to be a symptom of our overcapitalistic society that a day set aside for laborer’s to not do someone else’s dirty work has faded away to what it is today. But, ah, like Sunday there is MONEY to be made. I guess I shouldn’t complain because I actually get paid extra for it and many won’t. I Wiki’d it and you should too. The holiday was actually born in blood by people standing up for their rights and being killed by their own. Such strife all because certain individuals feel that they desreve so much more than anyone else.

    No, I did not. It was back to the grindstone today, but it was nice to have a day off.
