Heidi Huber started her career with the sink or swim theory. Luckily she knows the freestyle which has taken her from the Chicago stage to behind the scenes in Los Angeles where she currently continues to tap as The Whole 9’s Chief of Everything Else.

Have you ever made a snowman?

When I was a kid in Illinois, I envisioned making Frosty the Snowman.  What usually ended up happening was a snowman speckled with bits of grass and dirt, a cane instead of a corn-cob pipe, and a cowboy hat instead of a top hat.  As cold as it was, they usually lasted a long time though!

Have you ever made a snowman and if so, what did they look like?

  1. Oh, yes, I remember those snowmen, little sister. And they were never as big as you’d hoped because wet snow WEIGHS A TON! Hard work rolling those body parts together. I also remember how you would make up songs…one in particular that is often quoted in our family, that you recorded on one of those old portable cassette tape recorders. I don’t remember how the song started or what was the B section… but, boy, did you give a GREAT Hollywood ending: “A snowman…A SNOWman….A S N O W M A A A A A N N !!!!!!”

  2. I’m not sure that I’ve ever made a snowman, but last night Willow was telling me about a dream she had in which she and her friend Jolie. There was lots of falling down and laughing in her dream ;-)

  3. Oops…in which she and Jolie were making one :-)

  4. Yes, I made many snowmen growing up on Long Island. I also have a memory of making an igloo once, though I fear my recollection may be grandiose versus the reality of what it looked like.

  5. I have made a few snowmen in my life, some of them pretty good sized. My favorite though was a miniature snowman that my grand daughter and I made when she was about three, There was just a little bit of snow and it was melting fast, so we made a little tiny snowman and I put it on a plate and put it in the freezer so she could show it to her mom when she got home from work.

  6. Yes…growing up in MA…many snowmen, snowwomen, snowkids, snow….things :) I also remember the blizzard of ‘78 and my brother and I making tunnels through the back yard…

  7. I made my first snowman in January, 2010 with some kids who were at an outdoor education program I was leading. They were shocked and horrified that, having grown up in SoCal, I had never made a snowman, so we went outside after eating lunch and made one.
