A creative blog by Heidi Huber on The Whole 9

Heidi Huber started her career with the sink or swim theory. Luckily she knows the freestyle which has taken her from the Chicago stage to behind the scenes in Los Angeles where she currently continues to tap as The Whole 9’s Chief of Everything Else.

Do you have an age range preference?

Whether it’s dating, a lifelong partner, or meaningful exchange of concepts and ideas, does age matter?  I often scoff when I hear male friends (who are mid-forties and older) talking about their new 22 year-old girlfriend.  I mean, how much can they have in common?  Then I scoff at myself for being so judgmental.  What the hell do I know — maybe they do have a lot in common and I’m just being bitchy about it.

Do you have an age range preference?

  1. - from an uncontrived taste and not to paraphrase ‘dazed and confused’,

I get older, they stay the same age.

  2. no age constraints here. you can learn from anyone.

  3. Within the past two weeks, I have had “meaningful exchanges of concepts and ideas”
with my 8 yr old grandson, my 12 year old granddaughter and on the opposite end of the spectrum….a longtime family friend who just had her 92nd birthday! (and several in between) It’s the interests and awareness/observations of the individuals, not their age age that matters in conversation and friendships. Probably, the least interesting to me are my own age group peers.

  4. No…. Adom was old when he died, Moshe, likewise, so what da heck is age other than a man made symbol? But…. Damn if we dont like our wines aged… Im 26 yrs, 1148 moons older than my wife. Still, the moon is always there so its ageless too. New, or full, wax, wane… Peace.

  5. Having issues

    Uploading pix….

  6. No judgements here. As they say, ‘what one loses in flexibility is made up for in experience’ (and vice-versa). :) Wisdom, beauty and enthusiasm can cross all ages (or not, lol).

  7. For dating, I suppose, though I clearly haven’t had to think about it for years, but for friends, I guess I’d at least prefer them to be legal, unless they’re one of the girls I babysit.

  8. Personally I feel I can learn something from anyone regardless of age. Children are fabulous teachers. My friends over 80 are a blast. I find it possibly more difficult with people my similar age because I expect more out of them. Harsh maybe?

  9. Yes, I too learn from folk of all ages. I know a 4 year old Story Teller who can spin some of the tallest tales that would even do Shakespeare or Mark Twain proud. I LEARN/LIVE from her musings!
But being a lowly-evolved MALE (well, speaking ONLY for myself), I MUST apply this question to the male/female thing.
    Age range/preference?
I prefer women my own age, give or take, on both sides of that magic number.
To me, they fall into the classification of “TUBBS.” No, that’s NOT a negative, such as the implication that the words”tub” or “tubby” COULD imply a less-than-healthy body mass index. Think of “fat” vs. “PHAT!”
    TUBBS:
    TOUGH–UNIQUE–BADD–BOLD–SEXY
You can TALK to them. Very important to the lowly-evolved male. Again…speaking or myself…
    :)

  10. All ages are cool, but kids? Amazing. Willow and Tejan are two of the most inspirational human beings I’ve ever had in my life. The big question is how to keep them that way.

As far as dating? I’ve run the gamut, but these days prefer men closer to my age.
